How Underground Detention Works
Underground detention chambers are modular systems that create large voids beneath the ground surface. Stormwater flows into these chambers during rain events and is slowly released to prevent downstream flooding.
The chambers are surrounded by stone and wrapped in geotextile fabric. This allows water to infiltrate into the surrounding soil if desired, or the system can be lined for pure detention with no infiltration.
