Heritage Retention Pond Reconstruction
Summary
Heritage at Roswell is a Townhome Community located in North East Atlanta SCA completed a full dam restoration in 2022. As far back as 2017, SCA noticed there was an issue with the outlet structure on the corner of the pond. As time went on, the problem worsened, and concern grew higher. Eventually, it was mandated that the water level be dropped until something was done about the issue; SCA monitored the levels. SCA recommended that an engineer get involved to draw up the plans, and formalize a solution. A plan was constructed to replace the old corrugated metal structure with a new ductile iron pipe exiting from a new concrete cast in place outlet control structure. After meeting with the community, all questions were laid to rest, and SCA broke ground in the summer of 2022. With quick work, our teams drained the lake, and removed all old structures. Following removal, a new 18’ tall concrete outlet control structure was poured, and pipe was installed. The dam was rebuilt, and final erosion control measures were installed. Once the dust settled, SCA was able to restock the pond, and restore the fish existing in the pond.
